FAQ

1. Is there a preference for a certain research topic?

We are open to a broad range of research topics within Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. While alignment with existing strengths or strategic directions of the department is appreciated, we are especially interested in candidates who bring innovative ideas and can complement or expand our current research portfolio.
2. What is the expected teaching load?

The teaching load is balanced and depends on your career profile (research, teaching, or impact focused). Typically, assistant professors spend about 30鈥�40% of their time on teaching-related activities, but this can vary.
3. Are there specific/preferred courses I should teach?

Teaching assignments are based on your expertise and departmental needs. You may be involved in bachelor and/or master courses in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. If you have specific teaching interests, we encourage you to mention them in your application.
4. Am I expected to teach in Dutch? And/or am I expected to become proficient in Dutch within a certain period?

Most teaching is conducted in English, especially at the MSc and PhD levels. However, for broader integration into the university and Dutch society, we encourage non-Dutch speakers to learn the language.
5. Are there funding opportunities available, nationally or within the university?

Yes. The Netherlands offers a strong funding landscape, including NWO (Dutch Research Council), EU Horizon Europe, and industry collaborations. 黑料福利网 also provides internal seed funding and support for grant applications.
6. Is there a page limit for the application documents?

Please refer to the specific vacancy text for any formatting or length requirements. In general, we recommend keeping your application concise and focused.
7. Are there any constraints on (academic) age?

No, there are no formal age restrictions. We welcome applicants at all career stages, provided they meet the criteria for the assistant professor level.
8. What is the preferred starting date?

We aim for flexibility. While a specific starting date may be mentioned in the vacancy, we are open to discussing a mutually convenient date.
9. Can you give me feedback on my application?
