Updated Profiles for University Professors and Ambassadors

To better reflect current academic practices and ºÚÁϸ£Àû꿉۪s long-term ambitions, ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø's Executive Board has updated the profiles for University Professors and Ambassadors. These updates recognize leadership across the university and reinforce ºÚÁϸ£Àû꿉۪s strategic direction in light of the upcoming Institutional Plan 2026-2030.

University Professors

University Professors are leading full professors who, as figureheads, set the example for the quality of education, research, and valorization at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. They drive innovation and actively contribute to strategic discussions. Their profile now also includes leadership, ºÚÁϸ£Àû꿉۪s CORe values, and the principles of Recognition & Rewards. During their appointment, they will work on a personal assignment that contributes to ºÚÁϸ£Àû꿉۪s long-term goals. ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø aims to appoint a maximum of six University Professors, with attention to diversity in gender and in the domains of research, education, and valorization, recognizing the different profiles of our academics.

Rector Silvia Lenaerts: I am proud of everyone who contributes to the success of ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. Our strength lies in the diversity of our community. Within this diverse culture, University Professors have a special role: they are the figureheads who demonstrate how you can make a difference through all three core tasks – education, research, and valorization. The most beautiful part is that they never do this alone; they do it together with others. In doing so, University Professors are also able to inspire and help others grow, guided by our CORe values.

Ambassadors

ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø has appointed Ambassadors in recent years, such as our ambassador for integrity (Ingrid Heynderickx), and our sustainability ambassador (Anna Wieczorek). With the updated policy, a clear and formal profile has now been established. Ambassadors are leading university staff members - academic or professional - who help drive a specific theme or transition within ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. These themes are closely linked to ºÚÁϸ£Àû꿉۪s ambitions. The Executive Board defines the assignment and duration. The Executive Board will cover the salary costs for the assignment, provided the role is not part of a formal leadership position.
