Dive into the Wadden Sea and experience its richness!
Waddenlab is an exciting opportunity for students from all educational backgrounds (MBO, HBO, WO) to explore, investigate, and experience the Wadden Sea and its challenges.
Are you ready to immerse yourself in one of Europe鈥檚 most unique and dynamic ecosystems? During (11-17 July), you鈥檒l dive into the Wadden Sea! Not from behind a screen, but by living on it, walking through it, and researching it up close.
In multidisciplinary teams, you explore the central question:
鈥淲hat do we need to know about the Wadden Sea to understand what a healthy Wadden Sea truly is?鈥
During the sailing week you will explore ecological processes, species interactions, the effects of climate change, tourism, industry, sediment dynamics, and the role of human activity. You work alongside experts, lecturers, makers, designers, biologists, and students from a wide variety of disciplines.
The ship becomes your means of transport, your home base, your workspace, your studio, and your meeting place. A floating laboratory where ideas, insights, and experiences come together.
Accommodation & life on board
During Waddenlab 2026, is your home for the week. You stay overnight on board, together with the group. Below deck, the ship has comfortable cabins (both shared and four-person cabins), each with running water and electricity. There are several toilets and showers on board, and the ship is fully heated, making it a pleasant place to stay throughout the week.
Meals are prepared together on board, with participants cooking in turns. This means that the entire Waddenlab week takes place on and around the ship 鈥 living, learning, working and exploring the Wadden Sea as one community.
