The NXP Scholarship on ‘Millimeter Wave Wireless Technology’ - funded by .

Within this scholarship program, master students with a specialization in the areas of Microwave Engineering, RF Electronics, Data Converters, Antennas and Signal Processing for millimeter wave wireless communications and radar systems were supported.

The first NXP scholarships were awarded in September 2020 to a group of first year master’s students at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø’s Department of Electrical Engineering. There has been 5 generations of first year master’s students funded through the NXP foundation, and a selection of them were also funded for their second year of master studies.

For the academic year 2026–2027, NXP Scholarships are not available.

To familiarise yourself with the selection process, please see below an overview of the process followed in previous years.

Interested first-year Master’s students who started their Master’s programme in September, as well as Bachelor’s students in Electrical Engineering (EE) at Eindhoven University of Technology (ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø) who joined the EE Master’s programme during the academic year, could apply for the scholarship. This included Electrical Engineering students from Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences who finished the pre-master’s program in Eindhoven ().

The selected students received a scholarship of € 5000 in the first year and were evaluated for the continuation of the scholarship in their 2nd year of the master.

Furthermore, scholarship recipients were assigned to a NXP coach, and entered the  of the EE master’s program with relevant courses related to Millimeter Wave Technology.  

First-year recipients were required to take part in a team project supervised by NXP running from Nov-June in the first year. In the team project students gained experience to work together on a millimeter wave system. Students from the previous generations highly valued the experience of this project. The project was done in parallel to the master courses that you follow at university and was an extra study load of 15 EC, distributed over quartile 2, 3 and 4.

NXP Scholarship recipients who wanted to receive the scholarship in their second year had to choose a graduation project in the area of mm-wave technology. They were encouraged to complete their internship and graduation project at NXP.

NXP recipients were also offered the opportunity to join the . Students who took part in the Honours Academy had their team project count as the 15 EC Professional Development component of the Honours programme. At the end of the master’s program, students received a special certificate next to their regular master’s diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Students applied by sending their:

• CV
• Grade list
• Motivation letter (addressed to the Department board of Electrical Engineering) explaining their reasons for pursuing the scholarship
• Short 3 minutes video pitch to further support/explain their application

• Motivation to work in the area of Millimeter Wave and related application domains
• Study results in bachelor
• Activities outside study program (e.g. teaching assistant, study association)
• Students must have finished the BSc program before starting date September.

A selection committee consisting of representatives from NXP and the Electrical Engineering department at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø completed the scholarship selection process based on the selection criteria outlined above.

The committee assessed all applications against the agreed selection criteria and determined which students would receive a scholarship. In addition to reviewing the application documents, the committee conducted interviews with the shortlisted candidates.

The selection process was completed by sending a decision letter to all students who submitted an application.
