Accelerating the Hydrogen Transition through Learning Communities
The hydrogen economy is growing fast, but its success depends on more than technology. It requires a workforce that can adapt to roles that often do not yet exist. Traditional education models struggle to keep pace with these rapid changes, creating a gap between industry needs and available skills. Meanwhile, the urgency is increasing: climate targets are approaching, digitalization is transforming job roles, and companies need talent ready to innovate.
A Scalable Learning Ecosystem
UB4H is an evidence-informed research project that investigates how learning, working, and innovation can be integrated into one responsive system. Through design-based and action-oriented research, we explore how Learning Communities can be structured, interconnected, and sustained to accelerate workforce readiness and innovation in the hydrogen sector.
Research with Impact
Our research is deeply connected to practice. By studying real-world situations in collaboration with companies, educational institutions, and regional networks, UB4H generates insights into what works, for whom, and under which conditions. These findings inform both academic theory and practical strategies for reducing onboarding times and fostering lifelong learning.
Building on Expertise
UB4H builds on the combined expertise of ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, Fontys, Avans, and industry partners in hydrogen technology, lifelong learning, and ecosystem design. This interdisciplinary approach bridges technical and social sciences, ensuring that research outcomes are scientifically robust and practically relevant. By connecting research with real-world challenges, UB4H contributes to a scalable, future-proof hydrogen workforce ecosystem.
