Prof.dr.ir. Roland T贸th was appointed full-time professor of Learning and Control of Complex Dynamical Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网) on January 2, 2024. He will deliver his inaugural lecture on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

About the lecture
Across a wide range of industries, from precision mechatronics to aerospace, next-generation systems such as wafer scanners, advanced IC packaging equipment, re-entry vehicles and satellites are growing rapidly in complexity. This evolution is driven by increasingly demanding requirements for throughput, precision, reliability, safety, autonomy and adaptability. Addressing these challenges is essential for continued technological progress and societal advancement. The growing availability of data, computational power and advanced artificial intelligence methods present unprecedented opportunities to overcome current engineering limitations. However, the indiscriminate application of data-driven and AI-based approaches has also exposed shortcomings, including safety concerns, performance setbacks and escalating development costs. In this talk, Roland shares his vision for integrating data-driven learning with model-based control engineering to create a new generation of computationally efficient methodologies and automatically construct models and design controllers capable of meeting modern performance requirements. Roland will also highlight successful collaborations with industry that have translated these concepts into impactful technological innovations.
