Microscopes are essential tools in the fields of medicine, materials science and physics. To students, they often appear as mysterious black boxes. How do you teach not just which buttons to press, but also the physics of how an image is formed?

In this interactive workshop with Marrit Tholen and Lorenzo Albertazzi (Biomedical Engineering department), we will open the box and show how every student can explore the workings of a microscope, without risking equipment worth thousands of euros. You will discover a low-risk, hands-on approach that allows students to experiment freely while tackling a real-world problem.

Join us to experience how play, exploration, and problem-solving can transform microscopy teaching. You even get the chance to get hands-on yourself!

This event is open to teachers and support staff; registration is free and can be done . Free lunch and drinks will also be available to those attending in person.
