Yurui Li is a postdoctoral researcher in the Elementary Processes in Gas Discharges (EPG) group at Eindhoven University of Technology. She obtained her PhD from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, in 2025. In 2026, she joined the EPG group at Eindhoven University of Technology, working with Dongshuai Li. Her current research focuses on the optical emissions of lightning and related electrical discharges in thunderstorms, satellite-based and ground-based lightning observations, and Blue LUminous Events (BLUEs), combining with a Monte Carlo radiative-transfer model (CloudScat), to simulate the propagation and scattering of lightning-generated optical radiation through clouds. Her work combines lightning observations and numerical modeling to improve the understanding and interpretation of lightning and thunderstorm-related optical phenomena.
