Doctoral Candidate

Tom Siebelt

RESEARCH PROFILE

Tom Siebelt is a PhD candidate in group Mi at the Power and Flow section of Mechanical Engineering. He works on the combustion and reduction of iron particles as part of the iron fuel cycle. The focus of his work is on introducing different iron (waste) sources into this cycle.

The introduction of these iron sources requires the development of novel techniques to reduce impurities and produce a combustible iron powder. To reach this goal, Tom is researching pyro- and hydrometalurgical separation methods and using fluidised-bed reactors and single-particle combustion experimental setups.
