RESEARCH PROFILE
Roozbeh Torkzadeh is a university researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering, ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. His research covers voltage quality and system strength in converter-dominated networks, grid connection of large loads such as data centres, and the technical and economic conditions for connecting new generation and demand to grids. He supervises thesis and research projects in these areas.
Alongside this he is a senior electrical engineer in grid connection technology at Shell Global Solutions International, working on grid connection and congestion studies, grid code compliance, and network tariff modelling across European markets, with projects also in North America and the Middle East.
He obtained his PhD at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø (research 2019–2023, degree conferred 2024) on the impact of the energy transition on voltage quality, with a focus on voltage dips, fault ride-through and system strength. The project was funded by Netbeheer Nederland, the association of Dutch grid operators, and carried out together with TenneT TSO BV in Arnhem, where he was also a PhD researcher.
Before that he was a power system planning and protection engineer at a regional transmission system operator, from 2013 to 2018, and a research assistant on EU-H2020 projects at Universidad Loyola AndalucÃa, Seville, from 2018 to 2019.
