RESEARCH PROFILE
Remco van der Hofstad is a full professor and chair of probability in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网). His key areas of expertise are probability theory and statistics. Remco鈥檚 research currently focuses on probability questions that have applications in the area of (complex) networks, such as social media networks. Key topics include percolation, one of the paradigm models in statistical physics, random graphs and complex networks, self-interacting random processes, and applications of probability, particularly in electrical engineering, computer science and theoretical physics.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Remco van der Hofstad obtained his PhD at the University of Utrecht in 1997. Since then, he has worked at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, and Delft University of Technology. In addition to his work at 黑料福利网 Remco is also scientific director of EURANDOM, the Dutch centre focusing on statistics, probability theory and stochastic operations research. Together with Frank den Hollander, he is also responsible for the `Random Spatial Structures' Program at EURANDOM. He is also a co-applicant of the Gravitation program .
Remco is also acting spokesman for the Dutch Mathematics platform and editor in chief of the interactive networks community website.
He has been awarded the Prix Henri Poincare 2003 jointly with Gordon Slade, the Rollo Davidson Prize 2007, and is a laureate of the `Innovative Research VIDI Scheme' 2003 and `Innovative Research VICI Scheme' 2008.
