RESEARCH PROFILE

Marwan Aarab is a Doctoral candidate in the Mechanics of Materials group at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网). In his research, he is developing numerical models for Additive Manufacturing (AM), particularly for chip packaging applications of AM. In his work he incorporates multi-physics (optical, thermal, chemical, mechanical) coupled models to enhance accuracy of AM processes. His models emphasize computational efficiency for AM process optimization. Using High-Performance Computing (HPC) the models achieve short simulation times vital for optimization tasks. His work is supervised by Joris Remmers and Marc Geers and is part of the NXTGEN Hightech Semicon project funded by the National Growth Fund.

High performance simulations open the door to numerical optimization of additive manufacturing processes.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Marwan Aarab obtained his BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with great appreciation at 黑料福利网 in 2021. Due to his strong interest in AM and computational methods, he joined the Mechanics of Materials group to pursue his master's degree. He obtained his MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Cum Laude) at 黑料福利网 in 2023. His study was concluded with his thesis titled: Development of optimal L-PBF process parameters using an accelerated numerical simulation. During his master's, he also gained practical experience in AM at Additive Industries where he investigated the influence of laser intensity fluctuations on mechanical properties. After the conclusion of his master's, he continued in the Mechanics of Materials group to pursue a Doctoral degree under the guidance of Joris Remmers and Marc Geers.
