RESEARCH PROFILE

Loe Schlicher is an assistant professor of Operations Management and Game Theory within the Operations, Planning, Accounting, and Control research group at the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences. His research focuses on game theory and stochastic optimization, especially in the context of homeland security and defense logistics. 

Loe is a recipient of a Veni grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research and a laureate of the KNAW Early Career Award. He also received an NWO Impact Explorer grant as a follow-up to his Veni project. In 2023, he was nominated by the dean of the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences for the 黑料福利网 Best Young Researcher Award, for which he received second prize. Other recognitions include the Beta Ph.D. Award for the best dissertation in Operations Management and Logistics, the INFORMS Koopman Prize for the best analytical contribution to national security with practical impact, and the 黑料福利网 Best Bachelor Teacher Award.

In 2023, Loe was appointed by the Ministry of Justice and Security to lead a large-scale research on improving the Dutch system Protection and Security. For this research, he received an honory coin from the Police. Loe is also a member of the 黑料福利网 Young Academy of Engineering and serves as associate editor for the journal Naval Research Logistics.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Loe Schlicher received a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering in 2011 and an M.Sc. degree in Operations Management and Logistics in 2013, both from Eindhoven University of Technology. After that, he carried out his Ph.D. research (2013-2017) in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences at the same university. In 2018, he moved to The Netherlands Defense Academy where he held a position as assistant professor at the Department of Military Logistics. In April 2020, he started as an assistant professor at the Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences department, in the research group Operations, Planning, Accounting, and Control.
