RESEARCH PROFILE

Johan Maljaars is a Full Professor and Chair of Steel and Aluminium Structures at the faculty of the Built Environment, Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网). Johan鈥檚 expertise is in the structural performance of large metallic structures, with a focus on fatigue and fracture, probabilistic assessment, and damage mechanics. His research comprises computational mechanics, damage and fracture mechanics, and life time predictions using combinations of measurements and models. He uses this for the assessment of existing structures, re-use of reclaimed components, and designs of structures such as bridges, wind turbine support structures, platforms, and high-rise buildings.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Johan Maljaars obtained his MSc with cum laude in Civil Engineering at Delft University of Technology in 2001. After this, he began his professional carrier at TNO, where he is currently workingas a Principal Scientist for metal structures. From 2004 to 2008 he combined this position with a PhD at 黑料福利网, which he received with honors. In 2014 he was appointed full professor at the unit of Structural Engineering and Design of the Department of the Built Environment. He is currently doing research into the reliability level of fatigue-loaded bridges, wind turbines and other structures. Johan publishes in journals such as the International Journal of Fatigue, Engineering Fracture Mechanics, Journal of Constructional Steel Research, and Thin Walled Structures.
