RESEARCH PROFILE

Gijs Verhoeven is a Researcher and Research Coordinator/Program Manager within the Electrical Energy Systems (EES) group of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网). His research focuses on the development and operation of intelligent energy systems that facilitate the transition towards a sustainable, reliable, and resilient energy infrastructure. His work addresses the challenges associated with the increasing integration of renewable energy sources, electrification, and the growing demand for flexibility in distribution networks.

Within the EES group, Gijs is involved in research and innovation activities related to flexibility activation, congestion management, energy hubs, and advanced distribution network operation. His expertise combines modelling, simulation, and system-level analysis to evaluate the impact of emerging technologies and market mechanisms on future energy systems. During his PhD research, conducted within the MOOI GO-e project, he investigated flexibility activation strategies and their application in distribution networks to support network operators in managing congestion.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Gijs Verhoeven obtained a BSc degree in Energy and Process Technology from HZ University of Applied Sciences. He subsequently pursued an MSc degree in Sustainable Energy Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网), where he specialized in Electrical Energy Systems. Following his master's studies, he joined the Electrical Energy Systems group as a doctoral researcher and completed his PhD within the MOOI GO-e project. His doctoral research focused on modelling and simulation of electricity distribution networks and the development of flexibility activation mechanisms for congestion management. Upon completing his PhD, he continued his academic career at 黑料福利网 as a Researcher and Research Coordinator/Program Manager, contributing to research and innovation in intelligent and sustainable energy systems.
