RESEARCH PROFILE
In his PhD project, Asier focuses on developing alternative porous electrodes and active redox couples for aqueous acid-base flow batteries, investigating interfacial reaction kinetics and degradation mechanisms to replace expensive metallic components up to pilot scale.
For his master鈥檚 thesis, he engineered and prototyped anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysers, optimizing cell architecture and internal hydrodynamics to enhance mass transport and eliminate fluid stagnation.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Asier obtained his BSc in Chemistry with a specialization in polymers from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and earned his Interuniversity MSc in Electrochemistry: Science and Technology at the University of Alicante. During his undergraduate studies, he conducted research on polymer electrolytes for batteries at POLYMAT. His background connects macromolecular materials with practical electrochemical cell design for scalable energy storage applications.
