The health and well-being of Dutch neighbourhoods are increasingly shaped by urban densification, climate change, demographic shifts, and unequal access to green space, mobility, and everyday services. While health is becoming a more prominent concern in urban policy, a growing body of evidence and data from different domains remains underutilized in spatial design. Translating this knowledge into concrete design decisions remains a key challenge. Accordingly, Future Healthy Cities asks: How can urban design and planning create healthier, more inclusive, and more resilient neighbourhoods through informed decision-making using multi-source, multi-scale, and multi-temporal data?

The ImpactLab focuses on innovative ways of connecting health, spatial design, and emerging digital approaches. Working with real urban conditions, we explore how spatial data, health indicators, digital tools, and scenario-based design can inform interventions across multiple scales. This approach provides hands-on experience with methods increasingly shaping urban practice, while demonstrating how complex health challenges can be translated into tangible spatial proposals. Ultimately, Future Healthy Cities explores how better use of data can lead to better-informed design and healthier places to live.
