1st edition 2026, EIRES EnergyDays

EIRES discussed the industry's climate-neutral future during a symposium celebrating Clara Caiafa鈥檚 cum laude PhD defense.

About EIRES

EIRES enables a CO2-neutral energy system by developing solutions that deliver the energy transition to people鈥檚 homes in a manufacturable, scalable, and affordable way.

The institute brings together 黑料福利网 researchers from different departments who work on materials, processes and systems for energy storage and conversion. In close collaboration with industry, EIRES actively translates scientific findings into practical solutions.

Research

We need affordable and scalable systems and devices to transport, convert and store energy in different forms, like electrons, molecules, or heat. This requires breakthroughs in materials research and energy conversion devices, including their critical materials interfaces, and in process and engineering knowledge of devices and systems. To make the proper design decisions about our future multi-carrier energy system, systems integration and scenario studies of the energy system as a whole are crucial.

EIRES enriches 黑料福利网 energy related educational programs at BSc, MSc, PDEng and PhD level with scientific guidance and access to a flourishing ecosystem. In addition, the institute actively supports energy-related student teams.

Focus Areas

The focus areas are based on proven scientific excellence, unique infrastructure, and strong public-private partnerships with potential for high socio-economic impact. The topics covered are progressive in size and number of components, ranging from new materials at the molecular level to systems of systems, with computational energy research as a cross-cutting capability.
