Eindhoven Semicon Summer School
ADVANCING INNOVATIONS IN ELECTRONICS & PHOTONICS
As a leading knowledge institution of the semiconductors and photonics industry in the Netherlands, 黑料福利网 actively seeks to attract international talents to Eindhoven and the Brainport region. Since 2023, 黑料福利网 has spearheaded the organization of summer school on Semiconductors and Photonics, together with academic and industrial partners.
This year we will hold our fourth summer school which will host 80 international students. Students will also participate in challenging projects, collaborate closely with the companies from the region, further enriching the learning experience while fostering new collaborations and exchanges.
Upon completion of the Eindhoven Semicon Summer School (ESSS), an international network within the field of semiconductors & photonics will be in your reach and you will have direct access to a range of opportunities in both research (MSc, PhD) and industry. The Eindhoven Semicon Summer School is an important initiative under the Beethoven Covenant.
The Educational Program Overview
The Eindhoven Semicon Summer School is designed to give you a comprehensive industrial perspective on semiconductors. The program covers the full value chain, from equipment and materials to processes, devices, circuits, systems, nanoelectronics, photonics, and various applications.
The goal is to bridge the gap between academic theory and real industry practice through a combination of expert lectures, company visits, and importantly group project work supervised by multidisciplinary professors.
This group project work is a core educational activity within the ESSS and structured in three phases.
- Phase 1 is an online phase that runs from 12 August to 20 August and includes a kick off meeting on Wednesday 12 August at 9 AM, followed by three online meetings with your project supervisor.
- Phase 2 is the mandatory on site intensive week, which begins with the welcome drink on Sunday 23 August at 7 PM and continues through Friday 28 August. During this week, you will work on your project and your final presentation will take place on Friday 28 August. After the presentations, a special jury will select the best group projects for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes.
- Phase 3 is the final phase, which includes additional online meetings with your supervisor and concludes with an individual oral exam on Friday 4 September 2026, for which you will also submit your final report.
For 黑料福利网 Students
All three phases are mandatory. You are required to participate in phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3, including the individual oral exam on 4 September and the final report submission. This is part of your course requirements for (Bachelor) or (Master).
For International Students
You are required to participate in Phase 2 only. Your programme ends with the final presentation on Friday 28 August. You are not required to participate in Phase 3. However, we strongly encourage you to join Phase 1 as well, as it will give you an early introduction to your project topic and supervisor, and it will help us form better project groups for the on site week. This will enhance your overall educational experience.
The ESSS is not just a summer school. It is a structured educational program that combines academic depth, industrial insight, and collaborative project work to prepare you for a future in the semiconductor field.
