On 25 April 2025, Keita Saito defended his PhD thesis entitled Chemical Recycling of Polycarbonates, which primarily focuses on transforming bisphenol A-based polycarbonate waste into a variety of new functional materials. In addition to this upcycling strategy, he designed and synthesized a new generation of bio-based polycarbonates, with recyclability embedded as a core design criterion. Altogether, his thesis highlights the development of more sustainable polymers and contributes to the shift from a linear to a circular plastics economy.
