New Postdoc Catarina Alves
On February 2026, Catarina Alves joined the Electrocatalytic Synthesis and Electrochemical Interfaces group at 黑料福利网 as a postdoctoral researcher, within a collaborative project with the Utrecht University and Shell
In Portugal, Catarina completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering (2025) at the Materials Engineering & Energy group, Centro de Qu铆mica Estrutural at Instituto Superior T茅cnico in Lisbon, under the supervision of Professor F谩tima Montemor and Professor Jorge Correia. Motivated by the urgent need to accelerate the energy transition to more sustainable technologies, her doctoral research addressed challenges in energy storage, focusing on self-protective manganese dioxide electrodes to improve durability under charge/discharge cycling.
Building on her background in (electro)chemistry, Catarina will work with Marta Costa Figueiredo at 黑料福利网 and Eline Hutter at Utrecht University on high entropy alloys (HEAs) 鈥� an emerging class of materials 鈥� for alkaline water electrolysis. By combining expertise in materials science and electrochemistry, and with Shell as an industry partner, the project creates a 鈥榗atalytic synergy鈥� aimed at deepening the fundamental understanding on HEAs and supporting progress towards cleaner, more sustainable chemistry.
