Valeria Caiati is an Assistant Professor in the Urban Planning and Transportation group at the Department of the Built Environment, Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网), with expertise in travel behaviour and sustainable mobility. Her research focuses on how people make mobility decisions when preferences and behaviour are difficult to observe, for example when they have limited experience with new mobility options, face uncertainty, or adapt their choices over time.

Her main interests include innovative methods for eliciting and modelling travel preferences, the adoption and continued use of emerging mobility solutions, and the role of uncertainty and changing life circumstances in mobility transitions. She combines behavioural and choice modelling with experimental research and complementary qualitative and participatory methods. A growing strand of her research focuses on innovative data collection methods for studying choices that cannot be adequately captured through conventional surveys or observed travel behaviour. This includes game-based and immersive approaches that allow individuals to experience mobility situations and make repeated decisions over time.

Her work addresses the adoption and use of emerging mobility solutions, including Mobility as a Service, multimodal mobility and light electric vehicles. 

Valeria is involved in several European and national research projects on sustainable and inclusive mobility and collaborates with public authorities, mobility providers and other societal partners. At 黑料福利网, she teaches and supervises students in sustainable mobility and urban planning, and supervises PhD and postdoctoral research.

Valeria obtained her PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2024. Her doctoral research focused on understanding and modelling the adoption and use of Mobility as a Service.

She has a background in environmental engineering, with a specialization in climate change and sustainability. Before joining 黑料福利网 in 2016, she gained experience in international consultancy and applied research in Italy, working on corporate sustainability and climate-related challenges, as well as smart cities and emerging mobility solutions.
