Tunc Alkanat
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Tunc Alkanat was born on October 20, 1991, in Izmir, Turkey. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2013 and 2016, respectively. His M.S. thesis was titled Numerical and Experimental Evaluation of Computational Spectral Imaging with Photon Sieves.
He obtained his Ph.D. in 2024 from the Video Coding Architectures Research Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, under the supervision of Professors Peter H.N. de With and Egor Bondarev. His doctoral thesis, Automated Video Surveillance and Anomaly Detection for Security, focused on anomaly detection and re-identification methodologies for automated video surveillance systems.
In July 2022, Tunc joined NXP Semiconductors in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where he works as an AI/ML expert. His work spans applications of machine learning in radar and biomedical signal processing, as well as efficient implementations of deep learning on edge devices.
His research interests include computational spectral imaging, visual object detection and tracking, infrared and RGB image/video processing, image retrieval, re-identification, radar signal processing, and video anomaly detection.
