RESEARCH PROFILE
Thijs van de Laar is Assistant Professor with the Bayesian Intelligent Autonomous Systems lab (). His research interest lies with intelligent systems that support decision-making under situated, dynamical conditions. Through probabilistic programming techniques, his research scales Active Inference, a leading neuroscientific theory about behaviour, for use in industrial applications.
Real-time adaptation is key to the development of effective intelligent agents
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Thijs obtained his PhD degree at the Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网) in 2019, on the topic of automated design of Bayesian signal processing algorithms. Before that he obtained his MSc degree in natural sciences at the Radboud University, with specializations in biophysics and science communication.
