RESEARCH PROFILE

Sof铆a Calero holds the Chair of Materials Simulation & Modelling at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网), where she develops physics-based frameworks for the design and predictive validation of materials systems at the molecular scale.

Her research advances the translation of thermodynamic, kinetic and interfacial phenomena into performance-relevant parameters under operational constraints. By integrating force-field development, algorithm design, large-scale molecular simulation and data-driven approaches, she enables decision-grade validation of materials behavior prior to experimental deployment.

A central focus of her work is the predictive understanding of adsorption, diffusion and transport in complex nanostructured materials, relevant for energy conversion, energy efficiency and contamination-sensitive environments where molecular-scale effects determine long-term reliability.

Calero bridges fundamental computational physics-chemistry with technologically relevant materials challenges, supporting uncertainty reduction and predictive reliability through advanced simulation methodologies.

Progress in materials science requires moving beyond characterization toward predictive validation. My work develops the physical frameworks that make molecular-level reliability a design parameter under operational constraints.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Sof铆a Calero obtained her MSc in Physical Chemistry (1995) from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). She completed her PhD in 2000 at the same institution, graduating cum laude and receiving the Extraordinary Doctoral Award.

From 2001 to 2003, she was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship at the University of Amsterdam.

In 2004, she joined the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Spain) as a Ram贸n y Cajal Fellow. She was subsequently appointed Profesor Titular de Universidad (2009) and promoted to Catedr谩tico de Universidad (2017).

In 2020, she was appointed Full Professor and Chair of Materials Simulation & Modelling at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网).
