RESEARCH PROFILE

In March 2025, Mathy started his PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology where he will work on advancing the science and engineering of polymer electrolyte fuel cell electrodes. The focus of his research will be on the synthesis, functionalization, and characterization of new porous structures to enhance performance and durability.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Mathy obtained both his BSc and MSc degrees in Chemical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology with a focus on electrochemistry and electrochemical engineering. For his BSc thesis he worked on the electroreduction of CO2 to formic acid using membrane electrode assemblies, while for his MSc thesis he worked on locally tuning the wettability in polymer electrolyte fuel cell cathode catalyst layers.
