RESEARCH PROFILE

The main project of Lucas is Metasense. The goal of the MetaSense project is to utilise metasurfaces for the enhancement of single-molecule fluorescense for biosensing purposes. This enables the study of dynamical processes on smaller timescales. As PhD candidate, he has the responsibility for the design, fabrication, and spectroscopic characterisation of the metasurfaces.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

The background of Lucas is in molecular photophysics. During his studies at the Eindhoven University of Technology he spent his master's thesis studying exciton binding energies in phosforescent OLED materials. Furthermore, he studied the angle-dependent photonemission lifetime of organic exciton-polaritons in Fabry-Perot cavities during his external internship at the University of Sydney.
