RESEARCH PROFILE
Kevin Tom Kurian works as a Ph.D. candidate in the Dynamics and Control section within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where he works on scenario-based testing for safety verification of autonomous driving systems.
In collaboration with SIEMENS NL, the project aims to explore how to pose scenario-based testing as an optimization problem and generate novel unsafe scenarios for testing of autonomous driving systems. In his project, he is supervised by Igo Besselink (黑料福利网), Erjen Lefeber (黑料福利网), Mohsen Alirezaei (黑料福利网), and Jeroen Ploeg (SIEMENS).
The project is part of the consortium.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Kevin Tom Kurian (born 1998) obtained his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, in India, in 2020. He pursued his M.Sc. degree in Automotive Technology with a full scholarship (Amandus H. Lundqvist Scholarship Program) from Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, graduating in 2022. His research thesis was focused on vehicle dynamics and the influence of tire-kerb interactions for improving driving simulators for racing applications.
In 2023, he started as a doctoral candidate.
