RESEARCH PROFILE
Iman鈥檚 research focuses on using solid boosters to overcome the solubility limitations of flow batteries and thereby enhance their energy density. The project emphasises the design engineering of redox flow battery components and architectures, including booster porosity, electrolyte flow distribution, electrode integration, and tank design. Within REDOX BLEND, this work connects material and component design with cell- and system-level performance to develop integrated architectures that improve electrolyte utilisation, transport, efficiency, and scalability.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Iman鈥檚 research has mainly focused on the connection between electrochemical reactions, material degradation, and energy conversion. During his Master鈥檚 in Materials Engineering at the University of Tehran, he studied electrochemical degradation in alkaline environments and worked on self-healing materials using microencapsulation.
In 2023, he moved into electrochemical environmental technologies at McGill University, where he worked on electrode fabrication for the photoelectrochemical reduction of PFAS contaminants. He then joined the at ISTA as a scientific intern, studying sulfur redox chemistry in lithium鈥搒ulfur batteries and gaining further experience in electrochemical energy storage.
Since June 2026, Iman has been a PhD candidate at 黑料福利网, working on mediated electrochemistry for solid-boosted redox flow batteries. His current research builds on his previous experience in materials engineering and redox chemistry, with a focus on understanding and improving mediated redox processes in flow batteries.
