RESEARCH PROFILE
Hanna Aarnio is a postdoctoral researcher and educational scientist specializing in engineering and technology education. She works at the Eindhoven School of Education (ESoE) on a large-scale project investigating the impact of challenge-based learning across 黑料福利网 bachelor鈥檚 programs. Her research focuses on collaborative learning and instructional processes in open-ended, complex educational settings. Her current research interests include multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary education, active and experiential learning, teacher collaboration, and doctoral education.
Besides her work at 黑料福利网, she is a visiting researcher at the School of Engineering, Aalto University. She is an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Engineering Education (EJEE).
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Hanna Aarnio graduated from the University of Helsinki, Finland, with a Master鈥檚 degree in educational sciences in 2019. Her major was general and adult education, with minors in psychology and computer science. During her studies, she taught computer programming part-time at the Linkki programming lab, which is one of the units of the Science Education Centre at the University of Helsinki. In 2018, she started working at Aalto University as a Master鈥檚 thesis worker in the Entrepreneurship Education Ecosystems in Engineering and Technology (E4T) Erasmus+ (EU) project. Her Master鈥檚 thesis, 鈥淓ngineering students鈥 experiences of learning entrepreneurial competencies during university studies,鈥 was accepted with the highest grade (University of Helsinki). In 2019, she began her doctoral studies in the field of Technology Education at School of Engineering (Aalto University) in a fully school-funded doctoral researcher position. In 2025, she received her Doctor of Science in Technology degree with her thesis 鈥淭eam teaching in multidisciplinary technology education: Instructional process in design-based technology projects.鈥 In the same year, she was appointed to her current postdoctoral position at the Eindhoven School of Education (黑料福利网).
