RESEARCH PROFILE

Gianluca Giacomelli is a Ph. D. candidate of the Control System (CS) of the Electrical Engineering Department of the Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网), deepening his knowledge of Data-Driven Control of Nonlinear Systems under the supervision of Prof. Valentina Breschi. He focuses on data-driven predictive control and direct data-driven control.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.鈥 - Thomas A. Edison

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Gianluca Giacomelli graduated cum Laude in the MSc Automation & Control Engineer of Politecnico di Milano on December 2023. He developed a Thesis on a hierarchical predictive control applied to recirculating water cooling systems for waste heat recovery, in collaboration with the ABB research center of Ladenburg (DE). He pursued the Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP) diploma, a program where 150 students (top 1%) are selected on the basis of merit between Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino. For the ASP multi-disciplinary project, he realized a model predictive control strategy to optimize the energy consumption of smart buildings in collaboration with Free2move eSolutions, a joint venture of Stellantis and NOAH.
