Frederieke Backelandt
RESEARCH PROFILE
In her PhD project, she will focus on developing a computational multi-scale, multi-physics model of the Porous Transport Layer in a PEM water electrolyser to study mass and charge transport, ultimately aiming to optimise the layer design.
For her master鈥檚 thesis, she developed and optimised a CFD simulation of a widely used inhaler to investigate drug transport within the device and predict particle deposition in the lungs, thereby improving drug delivery to the deeper lung regions.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Frederieke obtained her BSc degree in Molecular Science and Technology, a joint degree from Leiden University and Delft University of Technology, and subsequently completed her MSc degree in Chemical Engineering at Delft University of Technology. During her master鈥檚 programme, she worked part-time at the Hydrogen Chemical Company (HyCC) as a Junior Commercial Business Developer. In addition, she obtained her second-order teaching certificate in Chemistry, which qualifies her to teach chemistry at the high-school level.
