RESEARCH PROFILE

I鈥檓 a PhD Candidate within AmmoniaDrive who focuses on studying the application of ammonia and ammonia/hydrogen for an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Ammonia has garnered interest as a potential zero-carbon fuel because of its favourable storage properties compared to hydrogen. However, ammonia has poor combustion properties, such as a low laminar flame speed, high ignition energy, narrow flammability limits and potentially high NOx emissions. This makes it worthwhile to perform detailed simulations of ammonia using CFD to get a better understanding of how these characteristics influence an ICE. From a research point of view, I鈥檓 interested in studying the application of a premixed FGM table within the CFD solver to reduce the required computational time for chemistry. Specifically, my focus is on how to include Turbulence Chemistry Interactions (TCI).
