RESEARCH PROFILE

Dr. ir. Dena Kasraian is an Ir猫ne Curie fellow and a tenured Assistant Professor at Urbanism and Urban Architecture group of the Built Environment Department, Eindhoven University of Technology. She has an established expertise in architecture, urban design and planning, and transportation and a strong interest in conducting interdisciplinary research that bridges these fields. Her work focuses on the interactions between the following areas, using both quantitative and qualitative methods:

  • The built environment (urbanization, land use, public domain, transport infrastructure, and urban green infrastructure)
  • Human behaviour (travel behavior, perception, active lifestyles, and play behavior) 

She is also committed to investigating the public health and equity impacts of urban and mobility interventions, with a particular focus on underrepresented groups such as children and youth.

 

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Dena Kasraian obtained a B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering (2007), and a B.A. in French Literature (2009) from Shahid Beheshti University (SBU), Tehran, Iran. She has an M.Sc. in Urbanism (2010- Cum Laude) and a Ph.D. (2017), from the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft. Her Ph.D., 鈥淭ransport Networks, Land Use and Travel Behaviour: a Long Term Investigation鈥, was funded under the JPI Urban Europe CASUAL project. She joined the University of Toronto Transportation Research Institute, Department of Civil Engineering, as a postdoctoral fellow for two years before starting as an Assistant Professor at the Department of the Built Environment of TU Eindhoven (2019).
