RESEARCH PROFILE
My research interests include railway crew planning, fairness-oriented optimisation, and combinatorial optimisation in general. I apply a wide range of mathematical programming techniques, with a strong focus on large-scale column generation. My doctoral dissertation features a close collaboration with Netherlands Railways, the largest passenger railway operator of the Netherlands.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
I obtained my PhD at the Econometric Institute of Erasmus University Rotterdam, supervised by dr. Twan Dollevoet and prof.dr. Dennis Huisman. At the same university, I also obtained a Master of Science in Operations Research and Quantitative Logistics, with distinction cum laude. I have been on research visits to prof.dr. Andrea Lodi and dr. Rui Chen at Cornell Tech in New York City, and prof.dr. Alexandre Jacquillat at MIT Sloan School of Management. My work has been published in journals such as Transportation Science and Mathematical Programming.
