RESEARCH PROFILE

Ana鈥檚 research interests are focused on interdisciplinary nanomedicine, mainly nanocarrier versatility, delivery and targeting efficiency. She has worked with organic and inorganic systems (magnetic, nanocomposites, silica and polymeric nanoparticles) as building blocks of nanoformulations in the cancer theranostics. As a PhD candidate in the Bio-organic chemistry group she aims to better understand how DNA origami-based nanoparticles with surface motility modifications can influence certain biophysical cell-responses.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Ana Ribeiro (Porto, 1999) received her Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Minho in 2020. Later, she pursued her Master Degree in Biophysics and Bionanosystems. She developed her master thesis at INL, where she worked on the development of magnetic nanoparticles assisted genetic amplification. She has worked on the valorization of marine microplastics using compatibilizers; on the synthesis of solid lipid nanoparticles capable of immunomodulating tumour associated macrophages; and also on the development of controlled delivery systems for topical administration with antibacterial properties. In 2025 she joined the Bio-organic chemistry research group as a PhD candidate to modulate cell-responses using DNA-origami nanoparticles.
