Research Profile

The advances in ultra-low power communication and embedded processing have made it possible to connect things to one another everywhere at any time realizing the concept of the Internet-of-Things (IoT). This is a promising solution for many applications such as health and wellness, smart industry and cities, automotive, and agriculture. The performance and efficiency of the communication network directly determine the quality of the provided services to the applications. Research in the NES Lab aims at developing intelligent mechanisms at various layers of the network protocol stack targeting continuous performance and energy efficiency given all dynamics in such networks. It includes techniques that enable trade-offs among various quality-of-services based on the application requirements.
