Quantum & Terahertz Systems
Terahertz waves have unique fundamental features for a wide range of applications, which are emerging at increasing pace not only in the domain of wireless communication, but also in remote sensing, probing of materials and scanning.
Terahertz waves have unique fundamental features聽
We investigate photonic techniques for the generation, detection and processing of ultra-high frequency electro-magnetic waves in the sub-THz to THz domain (i.e. 100 GHz and beyond). Due to the extremely high optical carrier frequencies used in fibre optic communication, optical techniques (such as optical heterodyning) are well positioned to readily generate and process THz waves.
