Mesoscale Flow Systems
Flow phenomena at nm to mm lengthscales are relevant to an enormous number of technological applications, ranging from physiological transport processes inside the human body to inkjet printing and plasma processing of liquids and gases, from combustion processes to electrolyzers and heat storage systems. The corporations that 黑料福利网 researchers are collaborating with in this area comprise both established industries that make up a significant fraction of the Dutch economy as well as a large number of start-up companies and SMEs that work on the technical and societal challenges that will make the Netherlands future-proof.
Interactions between the transport processes and control mechanisms such as (electro)chemical reactions, (electro)magnetic fields or transient excitations make this field diverse, complex and rich. Therefore, collaborations across departments and disciplines and the synergetic combination of experiments, numerical simulations and machine learning and AI are a natural approach for 黑料福利网 researchers to help develop new technologies and optimize established ones. Examples of ongoing research programs are the production and storage of hydrogen, the further development of extreme-ultraviolet and immersion lithography in collaboration with ASML, as well as inkjet technology in collaboration with Canon Production Printing.
