A. Why join a Student Team?
Student Teams and their members most commonly list the following reasons for joining:
- You learn to apply knowledge acquired in the curriculum to develop a real-world technical applications. The challenges are often complex and push you to grow both individually and as a team.
- You develop soft skills like leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, marketing, and project management. Training programs and workshops are available to support development in these areas.
- Student Teams have a vast network of external partners and sponsors that provide resources and visibility. Collaborating with these partners can give you an advantage in finding a good job after graduation.
- Employers, particularly in the Netherlands, highly value Student Team membership. Alumni often start at higher positions or advance more quickly in their careers because of the significant teamwork and project experience gained.
- Although demanding, Student Teams are still student organizations. They balance professional development with fun. Most teams build a strong culture with their own events and traditions, and students form lasting bonds with teammates.
- Student Teams are international: more than half of all participants are international students. For expats, joining a team is an excellent way to integrate into Brainport work life and build connections in the local economy.
