Each year during MomenTUm, we proudly present the Best Bachelor Teacher and Best Master Teacher awards. This year, six outstanding teachers have been nominated for these honors.
All nominees will be evaluated by members of the Student Advisory Body based on the following criteria:
- Passion
- Interaction
- Impact on development of students
- Vision on higher education
- Innovation
- Critical thinking
- Uniqueness
While the spotlight is on the nominated teachers, we recognize that great education is a team effort. Behind every excellent teacher stands a dedicated team that contributes to delivering high-quality education. This award is not only a celebration of individual excellence but also a tribute to the collaborative spirit that drives educational success.
The Best Teacher Award includes an Educational Innovation Grant of 鈧15,000 for each winner. The other nominees will each receive 鈧3,000. These grants are intended to support educational innovation or the professional development of the teacher and/or their teaching team.
In addition, all nominees will receive a custom-designed statue created especially for the Best Teacher Awards.

Hanneke Gelderblom
APPLIED PHYSICS AND SCIENCE EDUCATION
Hanneke creates a safe and engaging learning environment where questions are encouraged and struggles are normalized. By openly discussing wellbeing, self-doubt, and growth versus fixed mindsets, she helps students feel welcome and confident, reminding them that 鈥渨e don鈥檛 all need to be Einstein.鈥
Under Hanneke鈥檚 guidance, students learn to translate complex physics concepts into mathematical models and connect solutions back to physical phenomena. Rather than providing direct answers, she encourages students to reason independently through challenges, strengthening their conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
What makes Hanneke exceptional is her combination of excellent teaching and genuine care for her students. Through her inclusive approach, focus on wellbeing, and dedicated mentorship, she supports students both academically and personally, inspiring them to grow as learners and researchers.

Bram De Moor
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND INNOVATION SCIENCES
Bram鈥檚 passion for both his subject and his students is evident from the very first lecture. With energy and enthusiasm, he brings abstract concepts to life through relatable real-world examples, making his lectures clear, engaging, and enjoyable. By creating an open and approachable atmosphere, he helps students grow both academically and personally.
As a young professor, Bram鈥檚 teaching is characterized by approachability and mutual respect. Hierarchy fades in his classroom: students feel comfortable speaking openly, engaging critically, and approaching him as a mentor rather than a distant authority figure. This supportive environment extends beyond the classroom to his supervision of theses and projects, where he encourages students to challenge themselves and discover what they are capable of achieving.
What further sets Bram apart is his strong understanding of what students need to succeed. Through high-quality course materials, well-balanced workloads, and inspiring lectures, he creates an effective learning experience that motivates students to actively participate and excel. Yvonne de Kort
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND INNOVATION SCIENCES
Yvonne is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who makes complex material accessible, engaging, and fun. Through creative, hands-on learning activities, such as using clay models to explain brain organization, she helps students connect theory to practice and actively engage with the material. She demonstrates how academic knowledge applies in real-world contexts and strongly embraces Challenge-Based Learning, encouraging students to develop skills through authentic, practice-oriented experiences.
What makes Yvonne鈥檚 courses particularly unique are her innovative projects and interactive teaching methods, which challenge students to translate classroom knowledge into tangible outcomes. She continuously seeks and acts on student feedback to improve her courses, reflecting her commitment to high-quality education. Her combination of expertise, approachability, and enthusiasm makes her lectures both inspiring and genuinely enjoyable to attend.

Jom Luiten
APPLIED PHYSICS AND SCIENCE EDUCATION
Jom demonstrates a deep passion for both his subject and his students. By integrating state-of-the-art topics into his courses, he gives students the feeling that they are engaging with the front line of science rather than only established knowledge. He challenges students to reach a high level while maintaining an environment in which they feel motivated, supported, and enthusiastic to learn.
Through interactive lectures, quizzes, and open discussions, Jom encourages students to think independently, tackle complex problems in a structured way, and connect concepts across different courses. He creates a classroom atmosphere where students are not afraid to make mistakes and feel comfortable participating and sharing ideas.
Beyond the curriculum, Jom encourages students to critically evaluate developments in science and society, fostering an independent and analytical mindset. Lenneke Kuijer
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
Lenneke combines academic excellence with genuine care for her students. She is deeply committed to their development as both designers and individuals, creating an open and supportive environment where students are encouraged to participate, speak up, and take ownership of their ideas. Through honest and constructive feedback, she helps students build confidence and critical awareness.
Guided by a clear vision of higher education centered on sustainability, responsibility, and student empowerment, Lenneke challenges students to think beyond technology-driven solutions and consider societal and ecological impact.

Maral Mahdad
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND INNOVATION SCIENCES
Maral combines energy, creativity, and dedication in a way that makes her passion visible both inside and outside the classroom. She creates interactive and engaging learning experiences through short conceptual modules, real-world context, and gamified activities that motivate students to actively participate. As one student noted, attendance may not be mandatory, but her courses make students want to be there.
Beyond teaching, Maral is deeply committed to her students鈥 personal and professional development. She communicates clearly, is approachable, and takes a genuine interest in students鈥 careers and wellbeing. She also actively promotes equality and an inclusive academic culture, making students feel respected, valued, and supported.
