FreeIn the second-year multidisciplinary CBL course (4CBLW00), 黑料福利网 students tackle open-ended engineering challenges in cross-disciplinary teams. This project-based format is a powerful opportunity to not only teach but also to inspire the next generation of researchers.
In this interactive ALT session, Professor Shihab Al-Daffaie (Electrical Engineering) will share his successful strategy for creating highly engaging projects in this mandatory course. By identifying and filling curricular gaps with cutting-edge topics, he has significantly boosted student motivation, gathered valuable input for his research, and successfully attracted students to his specialization.
In this session, you will discover:
- A concrete case study, introducing a pivotal field for sensing, imaging, and communications that is currently underrepresented in the bachelor's curriculum. Professor Al-Daffaie shares how he designed his multidisciplinary CBL projects to fill a knowledge gap and ignite student passion in this novel area for students from all different departments.
- How students utilized state-of-the-art laser engravers as an accessible, initiative-driven fabrication tool, allowing teams to rapidly prototype and test artificially structured materials (metamaterials) central to their projects.
- How these projects were structured to yield valuable insights for their own research while creating an exceptional educational experience.
