Invitation to Networking Event 19 June 2026

For 20 years, the School of Medical Physics and Engineering Eindhoven (SMPE/e) has been the place where education, technology and healthcare come together. To celebrate this, we are organising a major Networking Event on 19 June.

This event promises to be a day full of inspiration, connection and progress, where professionals from healthcare institutions, the MedTech industry and research institutes will come together to gain new ideas, exchange thoughts and enter into new partnerships. The programme will provide this through, among other things:

  • Inspiring speakers and success stories
  • Various networking opportunities
  • A forward-looking view of technology in healthcare

Speakers

Bart Berden

Bart Berden MBA (1959) is a physician and Professor of Organizational Development at Radboud University Medical Center. Until September 2025, he served as Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elisabeth TweeSteden Hospital for 21 years. Bart Berden is currently Chairman of the NVZD, the Dutch Association of Healthcare Administrators.

Cindy de Koning

As a chairperson and moderator, TV presenter, and radio and podcast producer, Cindy de Koning has been a communications professional for over 25 years, captivating and connecting audiences both live and via TV and radio, as well as in her role as a presentation trainer and communications advisor.

Stefan Hulsbergen

Stefan Hulsbergen has over 25 years medtech experience and a proven track record building companies as entrepreneur in medtech (Class IIb). With 3 succesful exits, demonstrable experience with building ventures and doing business within the restrictive health care laws, reimbursement schemes and regulations. His mission is to help people with deep technical knowledge and a big dream turn their vision into reality so that science, innovation and humanity reinforce each other.

KlaasJan Renema

KlaasJan Renema is responsible for ICT and medical technology at Jeroen Bosch Hospital. Thanks to his background as a clinical physicist and business administrator, he is able to use medical technology to achieve an organization's strategic goals.

Marjo Vissers-Kuijpers

Since 2022, Marjo Vissers-Kuijpers has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Co枚peratie VGZ and CEO of the Executive Committee. She joined Co枚peratie VGZ in 2011, holding various positions before joining the VGZ Executive Committee as Chief Health Officer (CHO) in 2021. In her current role as CEO, she is responsible for Internal Audit, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Executive Support, and the Corporate Strategy Office, among other things. Marjo Vissers is known for her strong vision of appropriate care.

Nico Pijls

Nico Pijls is a former cardiologist at the CZE, was appointed Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion in 2018, and was honored with the Master of the Masters award at the TCTAP conference in South Korea in 2024. This prestigious award is presented to a leading expert in the field of (interventional) cardiology.

Lianne van den Wittenboer

Lianne van den Wittenboer is the Program Manager for secondary vocational, higher professional, and university education at Brainport Development, where she is dedicated to bridging the gap between education, the labor market, and the high-tech manufacturing industry. Drawing on her years of experience in promoting technology and talent development, she brings schools, companies, and regional partners together around a single shared goal: helping more young people discover how meaningful and future-oriented a career in technology can be. Drawing on the Brainport mindset, Lianne encourages collaboration, innovation, and a hands-on approach. She contributes to programs that focus on talent development, equal opportunities, and the societal value of technology鈥攔ight at the intersection where education, innovation, and the healthcare of tomorrow reinforce one another.

Laurens de Groot

Laurens de Groot is a Clinical Informatician at Radboudumc and national theme manager of the Citrienfonds Regional Oncology Networks program. As chair of the Dutch Association for Clinical Informatics, he is also one of the ambassadors for the field of clinical informatics. Laurens graduated from Radboud University Nijmegen and Eindhoven University of Technology and has been working in healthcare for more than ten years. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of interoperability and imaging and their practical application.

Rianne Pas

Rianne Pas is Sr. Strategy and Policy Advisor Research at Eindhoven University of Technology.

Marcel van 't Veer

Marcel van 't Veer is Medical engineer at Catharina Hospital and was one of the first graduates of the Master's program in Medical Technology and played an important role in shaping this approach. Today, as science coordinator at Catharina Hospital, he supports researchers, supervises PhD students, and helps students take their first steps in clinical practice.

Joris Jaspers

Joris Jaspers is Head of Innovation and Associate Professor of Medical Technology at UMC Utrecht. The work of Joris Jaspers and his team focuses on the development, clinical feasibility, and commercialization of medical research equipment and devices that support healthcare professionals. His R&D projects focus on labor-saving equipment for the labor-intensive staff in operating rooms, interventional suites, and delivery rooms.

Sophie Cramer

Sophie Cramer is a Qualified Medical Engineer and obtained her PhD from the LUMC in 2025. She works as a staff advisor at the NICU and in the Medical Technology department of the LUMC. Co-inventor and co-developer of 鈥楤OBBY鈥, a device currently in development to promote the initiation of ventilation in the event of apnea in premature babies.

Alex Vernooij

Alex Vernooij is CTO at Concord Neonatal and co-inventor of the Concord Birth Trolley. Alex obtained his EngD QME in 2016, with the Concord Birth Trolley being one of his projects. He has a background as a medical technology designer and also has extensive experience in its management, maintenance, and production.

Ingeborg van Gessel

Ingeborg van Gessel is a Clinical Informatics Specialist (EngD) at the beautiful Meander Medical Center. She works at the intersection of healthcare and technology. As an active member of the Dutch Association for Clinical Informatics, she is committed to advancing the field. Driven by her commitment to healthcare professionals, she focuses on supporting and alleviating the workload of her colleagues in healthcare, so they can do their jobs as effectively as possible. She views technology, including AI, as a means鈥攏ot an end in itself鈥攖o actually bring about improvements in practice. Her motivation: to make technology work for healthcare professionals and thereby make healthcare more humane and smarter.

Mark van den Brand

Mark van den Brand is Professor Software Engineering at 黑料福利网 and Dean Graduate school.

Marleen Ruijter

Marleen Ruijter was trained as a clinical informatician at the Deventer Hospital and has specialized in network-based care. She now works at RSO Salland United, the cross-domain network in the Midden-IJssel region. There, Marleen provides direction to data exchange, digitalization, and data availability.

Tineke de Vries

Tineke de Vries works as a Biomedical Technologist at the CZE and, after obtaining her EngD QME title, continued as a PhD candidate at the 黑料福利网-Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center (e/MTIC). Through her work and research, Tineke hopes to contribute to AI and Big Data in healthcare in order to improve the quality of care and offer more personalized care.

Ashley De Bie Dekker

Ashley De Bie Dekker is an Internist-Intensivist at Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven.

Chris Hut

Chris Hut works as CIO at Deventer Hospital.

Michiel Tebbes

Michiel Tebbes is a Medical Futurologist, Consultant, Emergency Room Physician, Expert in AI & Digital Healthcare, and Healthcare Strategic Foresight. As a Medical Futurologist, Michiel focuses on how healthcare can prepare for a future full of technological innovations.

Pieter Van Gorp

Pieter Van Gorp is Scientific Director of the SMPE/e-EngD program 鈥楥linical Informatics鈥 (CI), which he manages from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS/Industrial Engineering and Management). In addition, he conducts interdisciplinary research into Health Data Spaces, in collaboration with psychologists and medical specialists, among others, supervises various PhD and master's students, and teaches a bachelor's course on Health Information Systems.

Frans van de Vosse - SMPE/e

Frans van de Vosse is Managing Director of SMPE/e, School of Medical Physics and Engineering in Eindhoven, and Scientific Director of the SMPE/e-EngD program: 鈥楺ualified Medical Engineer鈥 (QME). Frans is also Professor Emeritus of Cardiovascular Biomechanics, affiliated with e/MTIC (Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center).

Accreditation 鈥 This event is awarded accreditation points by the following professional groups:

  • NVKF: 4 points 鈥 Course 鈥満诹细@-SMPE/e Network Event 2026鈥 (ID number: 670315). This course has been accredited by the NVKF.
  • BMTZ: 6 points for attending the full day. (1 point = 1 hour, with a maximum of 6 points per day and 3 points per half-day. Therefore, full-day attendance equals 6 points.)
