FreeThe Department of Biomedical Engineering (BmE) used Digital Interim Assessment Moments (DIAMS) for Calculus in Year 1 Q1 for the first time in AY 2025/2026. They wanted to evaluate the consequence of using DIAMS versus a regular assessment approach, mainly questioning the retention of knowledge. They did this by a small knowledge retention test at the start of the follow-up course, Linear Algebra and Multivariate Calculus in Q3.
Surprisingly, the beneficial effects of DIAMS for students were much broader than only Calculus results. This talk will provide some insight on this bycatch. In addition, the retention test showed some interesting insights on student learning and the importance of assessment strategy, which will be shared by Ren茅 van Donkelaar, full professor at the department.
This event is open to teachers and professional staff; registration is free and can be done . Free lunch and drinks will also be available.
