Are you an educator who interacts with diverse cultural groups, and do you wish to improve your intercultural communication skills? Join us in this session led by Alaa Abdalla, postdoctoral researcher at the Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences department!

As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, the ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries is more important than ever. This session aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to think about and successfully navigate intercultural interactions, in educational settings and beyond. Being a good intercultural communicator involves navigating cultural norms that differ from the individual's native sociocultural context, and the ability to think of one鈥檚 self beyond the locality.

In this session, we will delve into the importance of intercultural competence, and achieve the following objectives:

• Define intercultural communication
• Identify the benefits of intercultural communication skills
• Reflect on personal cultural values
• Engage with real-life scenarios analyzing intercultural miscommunication

At the end of the session, the participants will walk away with a list of practical takeaways they can implement in their classroom to promote better intercultural competencies.
