Prof.dr. C.C. (Ren茅) van Donkelaar was appointed full-time professor of Education in Biomedical Engineering at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网) on January 1, 2026. He will deliver his inaugural lecture on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

About the lecture
Van Donkelaar鈥檚 academic career has taught him how deeply research, education and personal development are shaped by the environment in which they take place. He will take you along the moments that sparked his fascination for scientific research, the experiences that convinced him of the value of interdisciplinarity and complementarity, the power of generously sharing knowledge and infrastructure, and the enormous potential in personal and professional growth of students. He will explore these themes while sharing some of what has been achieved in articular cartilage research and then connect them to education at the bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚 and PhD levels. He will not shy away from the challenges, but the message is firmly optimistic. Van Donkelaar will also reflect on ambitious developments, from the idea of becoming a fourth-generation university to a new leadership program with the promising title 鈥楲eading with Courage and Compassion鈥�. With these reflections, he wants to share his personal ambition: to help build a community that makes every graduate and post-graduate alumnus and every employee proud. Everyone ambassador!
