On March 31st, the 黑料福利网 campus hosted Startup Night 2025, an evening dedicated to entrepreneurship, innovation, and cross-institutional collaboration. This year鈥檚 theme, Innovation in Healthcare, brought together the alumni and entrepreneurial networks of Eindhoven University of Technology, Tilburg University, TIAS School for Business and Society, and Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) and the innovation ecosystem.

Plenary Program: Inspiration from the Startup Frontlines

The event opened with an engaging plenary session in the Blauwe Zaal, hosted by Round One Ventures, showcasing entrepreneurs at various stages of their journeys:

• Laure van der Sanden introduced her startup ARTIC, which takes inspiration from nature by using microscopic cilia to control fluid flow鈥攁n innovation with exciting potential in healthcare applications.
• Stefan Nieuwenhuijsen and Cindy van Goor presented AINAR, an interactive app that supports users in overcoming their needle fear through real-time biofeedback, helping to make medical procedures less stressful and more inclusive.
• Martijn Cox, co-founder of Xeltis, shared insights from his nearly two-decade journey developing regenerative cardiovascular implants. He marked a major milestone: the treatment of Xeltis鈥� 200th patient, underscoring the long-term impact of perseverance in medtech innovation.

The rectores magnifici of 黑料福利网 and Tilburg University, Silvia Lenaerts and Antoinette de Bont, took the stage to emphasize the importance of collaboration across institutions and disciplines in driving societal innovation. Their message reinforced the value of shared ecosystems in supporting early-stage ventures.

We closed the plenary with a live 鈥渃alls for help鈥� session, where several entrepreneurs shared specific needs with the audience鈥攔anging from co-founders to clinical partners鈥攚hich were then explored during the networking portion of the event.

Interactive Networking with Purpose

New to this year鈥檚 format was our collaboration with Conversation Starter, a digital networking platform designed to foster targeted, high-impact connections. Participants created profiles highlighting their offers and requests, allowing them to book 15-minute one-on-one meetings in advance. These took place across 13 meeting points in the Senaatszaal, leading to over 260 meaningful connections throughout the evening.

From knowledge institute to innovator 

The role of universities has changed tremendously in recent decades. We evolved from knowledge institutions to drivers of innovation and partners in research for companies. Nowadays, we increasingly bridge the gap between fundamental research and the development of special products.  

Collaboration is the key to success. 

One of the core values of the 黑料福利网 is collaboration. To begin with, between our own faculties and institutes. And thanks to initiatives such as Brainport, we have grown into an incubator for innovations that find their way into practice ever faster. 

The Startup Night is a collaboration of Eindhoven University of Technology, Tilburg University, The Gate, IQONIC and Round One Student Investment Fund Brabant. Please note that this event will be held in English.
