Winner 2025 - Lorenzo Ceccarelli
Lorenzo is University Lecturer at the department of Electrical Engineering at 黑料福利网. In 2024 he developed the course , where he brings attention to the complex challenge of circularity in the electrical and electronic waste sector. In his course, Lorenzo, equips his students with a systemic understanding of this challenge by involving stakeholders from academia, industry, NGOs and community groups.
鈥淲e need to start cultivating a systemic, holistic mindset for ourselves and stimulate our students to develop one, if we want to address the grand challenges we face as a society. There is urgent need for a generation of system-thinkers, changemakers, and innovators, and we can provide the scaffolding on which this can be built.鈥
First Runner-up - Laurens Bliek
Laurens Bliek is an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems group at 黑料福利网, where he explores how AI and optimisation can drive sustainable innovation. He develops machine-learning methods to tackle complex, computation-heavy problems, with a strong focus on sustainable applications such as public transport, electric mobility, and CO鈧 reduction.
鈥淪ustainability should have an active role in all layers of society, especially in education, because our students are the ones who will have to build a sustainable society.鈥
Second runner-up - Doenja Oogjes
Doenja J. Oogjes is an Assistant Professor and design researcher in the Department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology, where she coordinates the course Design for More-than-Human Worlds. Her work lingers with the relations between design, technology and more-than-human worlds, drawing on feminist posthumanism, ecological thought, and fieldwork that unfolds slowly and with care.
