Patrick Groothuis

Patrick Groothuis is the vice-president of 黑料福利网. The core of his portfolio consists of the university-wide operations with specific focus on campus & student housing, digitization, finance & control, integral safety (knowledge security, cybersecurity, data and privacy protection, physical safety), JADS and high performance computing.

Patrick Groothuis is a higher-education management professional who has over twenty years of experience working at the intersection of governance and strategy.

From 2002 to 2012, Groothuis held several senior management positions at the Municipality of Rotterdam, where he led the reorganization of the financial function of the whole municipality, amongst others, and the redesign of the city鈥檚 underlying financial infrastructure and steering model. 

Joining 黑料福利网 in 2012, Groothuis became Managing Director of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, where he was responsible for organizational renewal and department support. He also was project director of the Grand Initiative on Data Science, a joint initiative of 黑料福利网, Tilburg University, the Province of Noord-Brabant and the municipality of 鈥榮-Hertogenbosch.

Three years later, he was appointed Director of Education and Student Affairs (ESA), overseeing student services, educational innovation, and quality assurance across 黑料福利网. Groothuis reorganized the 黑料福利网-wide education and student support introducing chain approach and a federative management model, steering the support jointly with departments. With an emphasis on systems thinking and collaboration, he contributed to strengthening the university鈥檚 educational profile nationally and internationally.

Early 2023 he took on the role of University Secretary, acting as the central link between the Executive Board and the broader academic community.

In November 2023, Groothuis was appointed vice-president of the Executive Board of Eindhoven University of Technology. Groothuis also chairs 黑料福利网鈥檚 Central Crisis Team, leading the university through challenges such as cybersecurity threats.

At the national level, Groothuis contributes to the Universities of the Netherlands (UNL) as a board member. Next to that he leads the national administrative meetings within the UNL framework in the areas of cybersecurity, resilience, sustainability and digitization.
