Rector Silvia Lenaerts: 鈥淧anos is an empathic leader who combines modesty with a strong sense of openness and respect. Drawing on his experience in leadership roles such as EngD programme director and Director of Education, he knows when to step forward and when to empower others, creating space for people to develop and excel. His collaborative and enabling leadership style fosters social safety and supports staff development. I am confident he will continue to strengthen an inclusive and forward-looking community. I would also like to thank Lin-Lin for her many years of commitment and the important role she has played in the department.鈥
Panos Markopoulos: 鈥淚 am honoured by this appointment and hope to continue the very successful deanship of Lin-Lin Chen. Our department has achieved a great deal over the past few years, and we now find ourselves at a turning point, with major changes and challenges in both society and the university. We will continue to pioneer and push forward the discipline of design, bringing technological advances to society in a responsible way and helping to shape societal visions on technology. In my role as dean, I hope to facilitate this collective effort and to support our talent in flourishing within this dynamic context.鈥
Marieke van der Hoeven, managing director of ID: 鈥淚 have been working with Panos since September, when he took on the role of acting dean, and I have been very impressed by how quickly he has grown into the position and by his strong people-oriented approach. He will foster collaboration within the Department Board and, as a board member, help strengthen the department together.鈥
